Design Requirements
My current project is the research, development, validation, and manufacturing of the front lower suspension arm for CWRU Motorsport. The suspension arm is designed to achieve overall vehicle performance goals, such as increasing ground clearance, reducing weight by 10-20%, while also improving mantienance and manufacturability. I dervied these goals based on set requirements
Design Cycle
The design cycle of this suspension arm began with research into previous designsused by CWRU Motorsport, as well as designs from other Baja SAE teams. Then as mentioned above I dervied design requirements, followed by concept generation and selection. Next I created parametric CAD models in Siemens NX, that would allow for easy iteration as suspension geometry was being finalized. Currently im at the, Finite Element Analysis stage of the design were I am performing FEA to validate the design and ensure it meets the strength requirements & as much weight reduction as possible is performed. (NOTE: FEA Shown is preliminary and not final)
